The ELA technology standards that I would feel most prepared to teach are “Multimedia:” Literature and Informational Text. I think I would need to be better acquainted with the subjects of history/social science as well as science/technical subjects to teach them well. I would also be comfortable with “Text Structure:” Informational Text, “Use Multiple Sources,” “Evaluate Speaker’s Point of View,” “Vocabulary: Use Context Clues,” “Write to explain/inform,” “Use Technology,” and “Use Digital Media.” The standards seem quite simple and easy to integrate into my classroom because I feel like I have done almost all of them at some point in my educational career. However, it wouldn’t hurt to brush up on all of them to feel more comfortable in the subject areas. I would like to be working in a kindergarten or 1 st grade classroom when I get older so the types of technology they use may be different from those used by older students.   But no matter what age they are, they must all be...

I have used Microsoft word on more occasions than I can even count or remember. I use it for homework assignments, projects and papers. I have used Microsoft Word to create many different types of documents for my classes. I’ve mostly used Word to write long papers but also used it for writing outlines and project brainstorms. My teachers have used MS Word to create homework assignments, quizzes and tests, syllabi, project guidelines and different class activities. They use it very often to help create documents for students to use and learn from. I do not have a lot of experience with copyright and fair use in and educational setting because most of the work that I have done has been created by me. I have used pictures from the internet in PowerPoint presentations to help illustrate my ideas and have also used bits of song clips in movie projects for school. As a teacher I may use other teacher’s lesson plans as a basis for my own and adapt them to fit my students and personalize...

Technology is an essential part of education because of its growing integration in today’s society. Because of its already large and growing usage, technology is a necessary tool to be implemented in the classroom. Technology allows teachers to perform their administrative and teaching duties much more easily than in the past. Technology allows teachers to send emails between colleagues, take attendance, create online seating charts and easily input grades into an online grading book. Technology also allows for teachers to show videos and visuals that can aid the learning process. Tools such as PowerPoint and Prezi offer visual aid that can display videos, pictures and text all at once, combining different learning styles into one presentation form. This allows students of different learning styles to more easily grasp the concepts being taught. Students use technology in the classroom to help foster communication to one another and also to aid themselves in the learning of the materi...
