ILP #2

For this ILP project, I decided to create an infographic with the website canvas.com. This website was super easy to use and had lots of great tool to create an amazing poster. The purpose of my poster is to inform people about how they can be more eco-friendly and earth conscious. I also provided a link to a great website that has even more tips for being eco-friendly. I am hoping to become a lower elementary school teacher such as kindergarten, first, or second grade. I feel that in kindergarten surveys may help to ask the kids what it is they want to learn about as well as to get a better understanding of any ideas they may have for the classroom. As they get older such as 1st or 2nd grade, the surveys may be used to evaluate how well the students know a certain subject matter. Excel may not be too useful in these grade levels because they don't usually receive A, B letter grades so I wouldn't need to use it to help me with that. The calculation of a bunch of grades for different assignments isn't necessary for these grades. The topic I found most interesting when reading my peers' blog posts were the variety of different ILP projects that people did. It was very interesting to see what they learned about and how the each had a different take on the project. I saw one student make an interactive poster using Glogster which I thoug...

“The Flipped Classroom” is a new way that teachers have come up with to help students learn new information. The concept is that instead of coming to class, listening to a lecture and then going home and doing homework on it, the students will watch a video and maybe answer some questions about a new lesson and then when they come to class the next day they already have exposure to the material. It transforms the students from passive to active learners when they’re in the classroom. They find that it helps deepen students’ understanding of the content and makes them more engaged in classroom discussions. https://www.khanacademy.org Open educational resources are teaching, learning and research resources that are in the public domain and available for anyone to use. These include full online courses, book/course materials, videos, tests, practice tools and other technology that facilitates learning of new material. These materials help teachers and students to learn more on thei...

Adaptive technologies are types of technology that aid students who have disabilities to perform the same tasks as students without disabilities. It makes learning in the classroom much easier for them. Examples of adaptive technology are text-to-speech software that allows the screen to be read aloud for students who cannot see. There is also voice recognition typing that allows a student to speak and the computer will translate their speech into text. I have never personally seen adaptive technologies in use but I have heard of people using them before such as when taking notes in class. There may be a learning curve that is associated with some of the technologies. It also may be difficult, depending on the severity of the disability, for the student to effectively use these technologies if they cannot have constant teacher assistance. PowerPoint is a very effective tool that can be used to help students learn at each level of Bloom’s Taxonomy. When teaching a new lesson, Power...

My Twitter experience has been good so far. I have interacted with few teachers and viewed their postings about how they have used technology in their classroom. I have learned that there are many different ways to incorporate technology into lessons in fun and creative ways. There are a bunch of different kinds of technology that are useful that may not seem too high tech but are used frequently. Projectors is one type, but then they also incorporate that with the Smart Boards and allow students to interact with what they are learning. The benefits of twitter are that we can see how teachers and educators incorporate technology and get ideas for our own classrooms. I have not had any issues with Twitter. https://mikayrickard.wixsite.com/mysite-1 Designing the webpage was not as hard as I thought it would be thanks to the useful technology of Wix.com. They had great templates and you just fill in the blanks with your own text, make new text boxes, add your own pictures, and ...
