ILP "Participation"- Lynda.com Tutorial
This tutorial was completed on Sunday, October 22nd.
This video is “Introduction to Songwriting”
which is a short video guide to the basics of songwriting. The author of this
video, Cliff Goldmacher, also introduces not only the fundamental skills that
are needed when writing a song but also the business aspects that come along
when wanting to publish and copyright a song. He also talks about the types of
jobs that you can have as a songwriter, either writing for record labels, being
your own singer/songwriter, or picking out different songs for TV shows and movies.
This information was displayed through a video of a PowerPoint-like
presentation with audio of Goldmacher explaining the information and going into
further detail.
I thought that this video was very
informative and showed me the more professional and business side of this
profession. I used to think that songwriting was just about sitting down and playing
some chords and writing some lyrics but it is actually a more in depth process
and you must be familiar with all the music terms. There are also a variety of
jobs available to people who have a passion for songwriting. Also I learned
about the ways that you can copyright your songs and what exactly is considered
copyright material.

Awesome! That is a very interesting topic! Are you planning to create an educational song in the next ILP?
